Currently reading the book The Angel Inside: Michelangelo’s Secrets For Following Your Passion and Finding the Work You Love . It is a fictional book that packs a great lesson in life and passion. It was said that the great sculptor Michelangelo was working on a marble that would become David, and a young child came by where he was working. The young boy asked Michelangelo why he was working so hard hitting the rock. Michelangelo said to him, “Young boy, there is an angel inside of this rock and I am setting him free.”
The story is not just about making trash into treasure. It is also something that we can learn as men. In every boy, there is a man that is being sculptured. How the man will turn out is in the hands of the sculptor. I think this is the heart of this site. The bloggers of Actlikeaman wants to bring out the man in each of us.
It is also the story of King David of the Bible. When he was chosen by the prophet Samuel – God had to teach the prophet a lesson. Don’t look at the outward appearance, God looks at the heart. As much as it is a lesson we can learn from David – the heart of the story was about Samuel’s ability to look beyond the physical and the obvious.
God chose a shepherd boy to be the next king of Israel. Imagine that!!!
Every person has this tremendous capacity to be both king and warrior, a person of value and a person of accomplishment. – Chris Widener
