Don’t Focus on the Externals

When it comes to your leadership, job, manhood and family – don’t focus on the externals. I remember when I was in High School, I wanted to be like MICHAEL JORDAN. And it wasn’t just me but every boy in the basketball court wanted to be like MIKE. So what did we do?
We bought our nike shoes, stick our tongue when driving to the hoop and jump as high as I can. And we actually thought it would work, that it would make us better basketball players. It did not – it just made us look like Jordan but still play like some basketball star wannabes.
Some men make the mistake that to be a MAN you need to look like the typical man. You need to lift weights and build muscles, you need to drive a car, you need to grow a moustache. Those are not bad but it doesn’t make you a man.
You get a Macbook, equip yourself with the latest IPHONE but it won’t guarantee that you will do a great job.
You buy the latest gym equipment and drink your supplements but if you don’t decide to lose weight and pay the price, you won’t lose the weight.
What you actually need is to decide. Decide if you are willing to pay the price. If you will take some hits and sacrifices to make it happen.
